Engage Advisors is a public accounting firm that specializes in providing accounting, tax, and business advisory services to dentists.  We are seeking a Tax Manager to immediately join our practice in our Kansas City/Chicago/San Diego office.   The ideal candidate excels at building relationships, thrives on client’s success, ensures client satisfaction, and looks for ways to expand service for existing and new clients. As described below, the position involves tax planning and preparation for businesses and individuals; reviewing staff work for all entity types including but not limited to: C-Corp, S-Corp, Partnership, and Fiduciary engagements. Essentially, the person in this role will need to wear many hats from a perspective of: client, people, process, and product delivery.  We will consider candidates with demonstrated tax technical experience, project management skills, strong communication and organizational skills, and supervisory experience.

Client Service

  • Help develop, build, and manage a portfolio of client relationships resulting in increased client retention
  • Understand client expectations and manage to specific end results & achieve qualitative outcomes
  • Manage client risk and financial performance of engagements including h4illing, collections, and project budgets
  • Own responsibility for delivering high quality client service
  • The ability to advise clients outside of the “normal” tax services
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to articulate complex information

People and People Development

  • Utilize and present available reporting for tracking and analysis
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize work
  • Establish clear expectations for work assignments
  • Validate work being performed and completed
  • Ensure Firm metrics are communicated, expectations understood and being met by all team members
  • Constructive feedback on employee performance
  • Participate in People Engagement (ex. one on one meetings) with staff
  • Identify training and development for all staff
  • Ensure employee satisfaction

Product and Process - Accounting/Tax/Advisory

  • Final reviewer of work being produced
  • Reviews and signs federal and state income tax returns for individuals and businesses
  • Supervise the team to ensure an accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
  • Collaborates with the other team members across the firm to support overall firm goals and objectives
  • Monitors and analyzes the work of the team to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the firm through existing systems
  • Advises staff regarding the handling of routine and nonroutine client work

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Licensed CPA
  • 5+ years of tax experience in a public accounting firm at the senior or manager level
  • Small business & high net worth individuals experience preferred
  • Experience managing multiple client engagements and client service teams
